Spanaway
Speedway
Tacoma, Washington:
If you are a racing
junkie, then this is the track for you.
This was the only asphalt track on my stop and the closest
one to where I was staying for the summer, so I had plenty of
opportunities to visit. Spanaway
Speedway races three days a week with some weeks racing four days,
different classes each night, with several
special events throughout the season.
The facilities at the
track are very pleasant. There
is a children’s play area behind the main grandstands, and several
shops where fans can purchase their racing memorabilia.
There is also a racing sports club above the main grandstands
where fans can go and get a bite to eat or a cold beverage.
There were plenty of areas in the pits for cars to get ready
for racing.
They run many different
classes and special events. The
classes run at Spanaway Speedway are Hobby
Stocks, Thunder Cars, Krusers, Demolition Derby, Road Runners, Mini
Stocks, Street Stocks, Street Drags, Super Sportsman, PRO4 Trucks,
Dwarf Cars, Figure 8 and Outlaw Compacts.
One the nights of racing
I was at the track, the grandstand were filled with the regular
die-hard crowd of fans, and the car counts were very respectable.
I believe with them running different classes on each night,
they are able to get a good deal of variety in there racing
programs. Everyone from
the staff to the drivers worked together to make sure that the
evening’s races went off professionally and quickly.
There wasn’t a night that I was there past 10 p.m.
That’s good… I could go out and enjoy the rest of the
evening in Lacey….(That’s another story).
Overall, a very good
track full of exciting racing action.
It makes me want to go out and visit other pavement tracks in
Washington. You can get more information at www.spanawayspeedway.net
